TenancyDesk sends WhatsApp messages from its own verified WhatsApp Business number. Your agency does not register with Meta, does not buy a business number, and does not sign a contract with a messaging provider. The channel is part of your subscription.
Turning it on
Settings → Notifications → WhatsApp → Enable.
That is the whole setup. There is no connection wizard, no credentials to paste, and no verification wait.
What gets sent
Four categories, each switched independently in the same screen:
- Payment reminders — before a due date, on receipt, and when a payment is overdue
- Registration updates — when registration (Ejari / Tawtheeq) is complete
- Contract milestones — contract ready, tenancy ending, move-in and move-out reminders
- Document requests — when a document is missing, expiring, accepted or rejected
Your staff can receive their own WhatsApp alerts as well — task due, document uploaded, compliance flag — configured per person in notification preferences rather than company-wide.
Messages are built from templates that TenancyDesk has already submitted to Meta and had approved, in English and Arabic. Agencies do not write or submit templates: WhatsApp requires every business-initiated message to use an approved template, and that approval is ours to maintain.
Monthly allowance
The channel is included in every plan; what differs is how many messages you may send per month.
| Plan | WhatsApp messages / month |
|---|---|
| Solo (AED 149) | 20 |
| Starter (AED 299) | 100 |
| Professional (AED 599) | 300 |
| Enterprise (AED 999) | Unlimited |
Need more on a smaller plan? The +100 WhatsApp Messages add-on is AED 40/month (AED 384/year), available from Solo upwards and stackable if you need several.
Replies from a tenant or owner do not count against the allowance — only messages your agency initiates.
How recipients opt out
Anyone who receives a WhatsApp message from your agency can reply STOP — also CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, or in Arabic إيقاف / توقف. The opt-out is recorded platform-wide and applied to the phone number, not to a single agency, so it is respected everywhere immediately.
Replying START (SUBSCRIBE, or ابدأ) resumes messages.
You do not have to do anything for this to work — it is handled automatically, and it is a Meta requirement, not an optional courtesy.
Seeing what happened
Every message records its state: sent → delivered → read, or failed with the reason Meta returned. Usage against your monthly allowance is shown in Settings → Notifications.
Using your own WhatsApp number
By default the channel runs on TenancyDesk's number. This keeps sender reputation under our control and keeps usage metered against your plan.
Connecting your own WhatsApp Business number is available on Enterprise, by request. It is not a self-service option: contact us and we will set it up with you.
What you do NOT need
If you have read older guidance elsewhere, note that none of the following is required — and none of it exists in TenancyDesk:
- A Meta Business Manager account of your own
- A dedicated business phone number you buy or rent
- A contract with a Business Solution Provider
- API keys, access tokens, or a phone number ID to paste anywhere
- Creating or submitting your own message templates
If a screen or a step in another guide asks for any of these, that guidance is out of date.
